AI voice agent, coming soon

An AI that answers the call. Coming soon.

IndunAI's voice agent will answer the calls customers make to your business on WhatsApp. It will say it is an AI before it listens to a word, answer from your own prices and information, and book into your real calendar: the assistant that already answers your WhatsApp chats, with a voice. It is built and in testing, and not on sale yet.

Tell me when it is live

WhatsApp calls only. It will not answer your landline or ordinary calls to your cellphone, and it will never ring anybody. The chat bubble on this page is the same assistant, in text.

A Your business, WhatsApp call

Hello, you're speaking to [your business]'s AI assistant. This call isn't recorded, and you can ask to speak to a person at any time.0:00

Saturday at nine or at half past ten are both open. Which would you like?0:13

You're booked for nine on Saturday. Is there anything else I can help with?0:20

How a call will go, written out here because nothing is recorded. The first sentence is the standard opening the server speaks before the caller is heard, and the times come from the same diary the chat books into.

WhatsApp calls, not a phone line Says it is an AI, first, on every call No audio kept, in either direction Not for medical practices, by design

What it will do

What it will do: answer WhatsApp calls, book, answer questions.

When a customer taps the call button in a WhatsApp chat with your business, the voice agent will pick up. Every answer will be written by the same assistant that answers your WhatsApp chats, with the same price list, calendar and checks, and the voice will only read those words aloud.

It will say it is an AI, first

The standard opening tells the caller they are speaking to your business's AI assistant, that the call is not recorded, and that they can ask for a person at any time. You will be able to write your own opening instead, as long as it says AI; an opening that does not is ignored, and the standard one is spoken instead.

It will answer from your own information

Your services, prices, hours and the answers you have written, two or three short sentences at a time. Prices will be said in rand, and a question it has no answer for will get "I'll check with the team", not a guess.

It will book into your real calendar

The same booking the chat makes: a time is offered only if your diary has it free, and it is checked again as it books. While it looks, the caller will hear a short holding line such as "Let me check that for you", not silence.

It will hand over to a person

A caller who asks for somebody will be handed over the way a chat is: your team is alerted, with what was said already written down in the conversation. It will not transfer the call; your team rings them back.

It will tell you about calls it does not take

If you have taken over that customer's chat, the call comes in during the team hours you have set, or the day's limit is reached, it will not answer, and your team will be told somebody called so they can ring back.

It will keep to a clock

Each call will have a time limit, five minutes by default, and each day a limit on calls and minutes. A call that reaches its limit ends with the assistant asking the caller to carry on by WhatsApp message.

What it will not do

What it will not do: make outbound calls, or record calls.

A lot of what is sold as an AI voice agent is outbound calling and call recording. This will be neither.

No outbound calls

It will never ring anybody: no sales calls, no reminder calls, no follow-up calls. A system that dials people is a different product and a different question of consent, and it is not built.

No recordings

No audio will be kept, in either direction. What is kept is the words, written down in the conversation the same as a WhatsApp message, with a one-line note of how long the call ran, and deleted on the same clock as your chats.

No phone line

It will answer WhatsApp calls, and not your landline or ordinary calls to your cellphone. There will be no voicemail and no text-back of a missed call.

No voice with ideas of its own

The voice model will be told to read the assistant's words aloud, word for word, and never to answer, quote a price or agree to a booking by itself. While it waits, it may only say that it is checking.

To hear the caller and reply, the caller's speech will be streamed to the AI provider, which runs outside South Africa, and the privacy notice of any business with calls switched on will say so. The business's own instance, with its conversations, is hosted in Johannesburg.

How it will sound

A South African voice.

The honest version first: the AI voices this is built on are American by default, and none of them is South African. Here is what will be done about that.

Told to sound local

The standard voice will be told to speak South African English, warmly, the way a local receptionist would on the phone. It helps, and it is not the same as a South African speaker.

Rand, not dollars

Every reply will be tidied for the ear before it is spoken: no links, no lists, nothing that says "tap below", and R395 is said as "395 rand", so no voice reads the symbol as dollars.

A real South African voice

For a genuine accent, it will be able to speak through ElevenLabs, a separate voice service, in a voice you choose on your own ElevenLabs account and pay ElevenLabs for directly. Figures will then be written out the South African way, "three hundred and ninety-five", and if that service fails mid-call the same words carry on in the standard voice rather than going quiet.

Medical practices

Why it will not be offered to medical practices.

Voice is refused on a medical practice's assistant by the software itself, not by a line in a contract. There are two reasons, and either one would be enough.

A disclosure must reach a person first

In a chat, a message about self-harm is caught before the assistant replies, and it goes to a person at once. On a call the words only become text a moment after they are spoken, by which time the assistant may already be talking. A patient will not be offered a channel where that promise cannot be kept.

Spoken advice cannot be taken back

In a chat, a server check reads every reply for clinical advice before the patient sees it. A sentence spoken aloud cannot be checked first, so there is nothing to catch it with. On a medical instance, voice cannot be switched on.

On every other business the same safety check will still run on everything a caller says, as fast as a call allows. If a caller says something that suggests they may be at risk, the assistant will stop, give the emergency number and a helpline, end the call and alert your team straight away. What a practice gets today is WhatsApp and website chat, where both protections work: see AI for medical practices, and the live practice demo at /medical.

Available now

What you can use today: WhatsApp and web chat.

Voice will be one more way in to the same assistant. Everything else is running now.

WhatsApp messages and voice notes

On your own business number, at any hour, voice notes transcribed and answered. See the WhatsApp AI chatbot.

Your website chat and email

A chat bubble on your site, added with one line of code, and a mailbox it answers if you want one. See AI chatbots for your website.

Bookings, reminders and hand-overs

Into Google Calendar, a CalDAV calendar or GoHighLevel, with a reminder before the visit and a person when one is needed. The whole job is on the AI receptionist and AI customer service.

If missed calls are the problem

Until voice is live, the practical fix is getting callers onto WhatsApp, where the assistant does answer. Missed calls on the job shows how a trade does it.

The assistant is from R1 450 a month including VAT for up to 300 conversations, plus a once-off R2 500 setup, set up around your business; fully managed is R4 995 a month with setup included. If you are weighing it up, start with AI for small businesses.

FAQ

Fair questions.

When will it be available?

There is no date yet, and we would rather not guess one. It is built and in testing, and it will be offered to businesses once it has proved itself on real calls. If you want to know when that is, send us a WhatsApp saying "Tell me when voice is live".

Will it answer my normal business number?

No, not an ordinary phone call. It will answer WhatsApp calls: the ones a customer makes by tapping the call button in a WhatsApp chat with your business number.

Your landline, and ordinary calls to your cellphone, will not reach it, even when it is the same number, and there will be no call forwarding, voicemail or missed-call text-back. IndunAI does not answer a phone line.

Will it make outbound calls?

No. It will never ring anybody: no sales calls, no reminder calls and no follow-up calls. Reminders and follow-ups will go out as messages, the way they do today.

Are calls recorded?

No audio will be recorded or kept, in either direction, and the standard opening sentence tells the caller so.

What the caller says will be turned into text, and that text and the assistant's replies will be kept with the conversation, the same as a WhatsApp message, and deleted on the same clock. To hear the caller and reply, their speech will be streamed to the AI provider, which runs outside South Africa.

Can a medical practice use it?

No, and a practice cannot switch it on. On a call, something a patient says about self-harm only becomes text after it has been said, so it cannot be caught before the assistant answers, and a clinical sentence cannot be taken back once it has been spoken. A practice gets WhatsApp and website chat, where both of those protections work.

What will it cost?

It has no price yet, because it is not on sale. What is on sale today is the assistant on WhatsApp, website chat and email, from R1 450 a month including VAT for up to 300 conversations, plus a once-off R2 500 setup; fully managed is R4 995 a month with setup included.
