Custom AI agent development, South Africa
We will build the AI agent your business needs, to do what you need it to do.
IndunAI does custom AI agent development in South Africa: agents built in Durban that hold a real conversation on WhatsApp or your own website and then act. Not a chatbot that answers questions off your website: it qualifies the lead, books the time, writes the document, takes the deposit, and files it all where your team already works. Priced per project, because no two of them are the same job.
The chat bubble in the corner is not a support widget, it is an agent. Ask it about IndunAI, or let it book you a call out of our real diary. Same engine we would build yours on.

Hi, saw your post. Do you have space for a full colour next week?22:31
We do. It runs about three hours, and a deposit holds the chair. Roughly how long is your hair, and are we lifting or going darker?22:31
Shoulder length, going lighter22:34
Thanks, that is a three hour slot then. Two open next week: Thursday 10:00 or Friday 14:00.22:34
Thursday 10:00An illustration of the pattern. The times come out of a real calendar, and the server checks them before the agent is allowed to offer them.
The difference worth paying for
A chatbot answers questions. An agent does the work.
Most of what is sold as an AI agent in South Africa is an answering machine that reads your website and then leaves the customer exactly where they were: interested, and waiting for somebody to get back to them. Whatever an AI automation company calls its product, the distinction we care about is whether anything changed in your business by the end of the conversation.
It decides
On rules you set, not on the model's mood. Is this lead worth your team's hour? Does this job need a deposit? Is this question one a person must answer? The agent gathers, the server decides, and the answer is the same every time.
It acts
It writes into a real diary, generates a branded PDF, sends a payment link, moves a card in your CRM, alerts a human. Every one of those is a thing that happened, not a promise that somebody will do it in the morning.
It hands over
The hard ones go to a person, with the whole conversation attached, and your team gets the alert. An agent that never escalates is not confident, it is guessing in front of your customer.
The architecture, in one sentence
The model proposes. The server verifies.
This is the reason an IndunAI agent can be trusted with a diary and a payment. The AI never decides whether a slot is free, whether a payment cleared, or who owns a booking. It asks. The server reads the record, checks the rule, and either does the thing or refuses. If the two ever disagree, the server wins.
A slot is claimed, not offered
Two people can tap the same 10:00 in the same second. One of them gets it, because the write is a claim the database grants once. The other is offered the next time, immediately.
A picture of a payment is not a payment
Card payments confirm when the gateway confirms them. An EFT proof of payment goes to you, because you are the only person who can see your bank account.
Prices come from your list
Loaded figures are quoted exactly as you wrote them. Anything not on the list becomes a quote request that a person prices. It does not do arithmetic in front of a customer.
Knowing a booking is not owning it
Changing or cancelling needs the channel that proved who you are, or the conversation that made the booking. Typing somebody else's phone number gets you nowhere.
What we build from
The parts already exist. Your agent is the arrangement.
A custom build is not a blank page. These run in production today across the instances we host, which is why a build is usually configuration plus new work on top rather than starting from nothing. What your agent does with them is the part we design with you.
WhatsApp and webchat
One assistant, both channels, one memory of the customer. Your own WhatsApp Business number, connected properly.
Real calendar bookings
Availability read from your actual diary, per team member, with double booking prevented at the write.
Deposits and payment links
PayFast into your own account, or your bank details with a reference. An unpaid hold releases the slot again.
Invoices and quotes
VAT correct, in Rand, sent into the same chat or held for your approval first.
Reminders and follow-ups
Before the appointment, after the job, and when a conversation goes quiet. Each one on a clock you set.
Review requests
Asked at the moment somebody is happiest, on the channel they already talk to you on.
Generated documents
Branded PDFs written from what the customer actually said, with every figure computed by the server.
CRM integration
GoHighLevel is wired and running: contacts, notes, pipeline stages, conversation threads.
Qualification flows
Your questions, your fit rules, your outcomes. The agent asks naturally, the server scores it.
Escalation to a person
A hand off files the whole conversation and alerts your team, and can pause the assistant while a human takes over.
An instance of your own
Your own container, your own database, your own credentials. You are not a row in somebody's shared table.
Johannesburg hosting
The data stays in South Africa, and each instance publishes its own privacy, terms and PAIA pages in your name.
WhatsApp compliance
The rule that changed on 15 January 2026.
Meta changed the WhatsApp Business Solution terms. From 15 January 2026, providers of general purpose AI assistants and LLM platforms are barred from the Business API where the AI is the primary functionality. That is why the big general assistants left WhatsApp.
Structured business agents are a different category and remain permitted: bookings, customer support, order tracking, sales. That is exactly what these are, and it is why we will not build you the other kind, however much you ask. An agent you cannot keep on WhatsApp is not worth building.
Worth saying plainly: that is our reading of Meta's published terms and how we scope every build, not a legal guarantee, and Meta can change them again. If you are being sold an "ask it anything" assistant for your WhatsApp number, ask the seller which category it falls in and get the answer in writing.

While I have you, can you write my son's history essay 😅16:04
Ha, I would be no help there. I am here for bookings, quotes and anything about the business. Shall I get that Thursday slot confirmed for you?16:04
A business agent stays inside its job. That is a scoping decision, and it is also the compliance position.
The work we turn down
What we will not build.
A short list, and the fastest way to judge anybody who wants to put an AI in front of your customers. We would rather lose the job than ship one of these.
- No general purpose assistants on WhatsApp The "ask it anything" build is the category Meta barred from the Business API. We will not put your number at risk, and we will say so at the first meeting rather than after you have paid.
- No medical, legal or financial advice Not diagnosing, not dosing, not interpreting a contract, not telling anybody what to do with their money. Those go to a person who is qualified and insured to answer them.
- Nothing that pretends to be a human It says what it is when it is asked. An agent that lies about that has already cost you the relationship, and you will only find out when a customer works it out.
- No promise the server cannot verify If the agent says a slot is held, a deposit is received or a document is on its way, there is a record behind it. We do not build an agent that says reassuring things.
How a build runs
A conversation, a fixed scope, then a number.
Custom work is priced per project, because the complexity genuinely varies: an agent that answers and books is not the same job as one that writes a document and files it into a CRM. Nothing is quoted before we understand what it has to do.
Tell us the job
Not the technology, the job. What arrives, who currently deals with it, what has to happen by the end, and what your team should never have to do again.
We scope it and price it
You get what it will do, what it will refuse to do, and what it costs to build, in writing, before anybody starts.
We build it on your own instance
Your container, your data, your credentials. It never shares a database with another business.
You test it on a real number
You talk to it yourself, and your team does, before a customer ever does. Changes at this stage are part of the build.
Live, and looked after
It runs on our infrastructure in Johannesburg. When the business changes, the agent changes with it.
A real build
One business, end to end.
Blue Diamonds Professional Editing, a South African academic editing business, runs on an assistant we built end to end. A quote form for thesis and dissertation editing on their own website feeds the assistant directly, and it returns a formal, correctly priced quote in the same minute, priced by the server from the owner's own per-page rate card, never guessed by the model. It answers follow-ups by email and webchat, including the honest answer on a tight deadline, which is deferred to the team rather than promised. Accepted work flows into bookings and invoicing, and the assistant issues the business's own post-editing certificates. That is what a custom build looks like: a real business's own workflow automated, not a template.
If you do not need custom work
There is an off the shelf one, and it might be enough.
Plenty of businesses do not need anything built. If you want the standard front desk that answers WhatsApp, books into your diary, takes deposits, sends invoices, reminds people and asks for reviews, that already exists, and you can have it running the same day.
R1 450 / month
The standard IndunAI assistant, month to month, with a 14 day free trial first and no card needed. If it turns out you needed something built after all, we will tell you.

Fair questions.
What does a custom agent cost?
It is priced per project, and we will not put a number on this page because it would be a made up one. An agent that answers and books is a smaller job than one that qualifies, writes a document and files it into a CRM. Tell us what it has to do and you get a fixed price in writing before anybody starts building.
How long does it take?
It depends on how much of it already exists. Most of the parts listed above are built and running today, so a build is usually configuration and new work on top rather than starting at zero. We commit to a timeline when we scope it, not before.
Do I own it?
Your business data, your WhatsApp number, your customers and your instance are yours, and you can export or delete everything if you leave. The platform it runs on is ours, which is what makes it affordable to build on in the first place.
Will it work with the CRM we already use?
GoHighLevel is wired and running today. Anything else is a build question and the honest answer depends on what that CRM's API allows, so we check before we quote rather than after.
Does it work on our website as well as WhatsApp?
Yes. The same agent answers on both, and it is one conversation rather than two: somebody who starts on your site and carries on over WhatsApp is not made to start again.
Where does the data live?
In Johannesburg, on our own infrastructure, in an instance isolated to your business. Replies are generated by an AI provider outside South Africa under terms that say content is not used to train their models. Every instance publishes its own privacy policy, terms and PAIA manual naming your business.
Can I talk to one before I commit?
That is the point of the bubble in the corner of this page. It is a live agent on the same engine, and it will book you a call out of our real diary if you would rather speak to a person.
Tell us what it has to do.
Send a paragraph about the job you want doing, on WhatsApp or by email, and you will get a straight answer about whether it is worth building. If it is not, we will say so.
